Abstract

This thesis represents the preparation and performance results of the character Lu Ann in Preston Jones’s play, Lu Ann Hampton Laverty Oberlander. The play was produced by the Theatre Department of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and presented in the Studio Theatre in the fall semester of 1979.

I have tried to record, as accurately as possible, the process of analysis I employed to help me “live the life” of this character. In my opinion, the most difficult challenge this particular role offered me was the change in Lu Ann’s age that occurred with each act. The process of analyzation that is documented here deals with that challenge.
