Abstract

Buckle, Inc., stands as a premier destination for fashion-forward young men and women, offering an exquisite range of medium to high-end casual apparel, footwear, and accessories. The 2023-2024 Buckle Design Studio team developed a computer vision model to advance product discovery and enhance guest satisfaction through matching items in an image with similar items from Buckle’s catalog. This was accomplished through semantic segmentation, an autoencoder, and other machine learning models all combined in the hopes of detecting different aspects of an article of clothing within an input image. In doing so, the Buckle team aims to elevate the shopping experience by seamlessly integrating clothing specific visual product search capabilities into Buckle’s existing technologies, allowing for a quicker, more efficient shopping experience for both customers and employees.
