Abstract
This report examines Northwestern Mutual’s strategic positioning as well as the overarching factors that impact the insurance industry. Northwestern Mutual is a large competitor in its industry with sound financial stability and a strong backing of in-force policies. The company’s current strategy, competitive advantages, and resources contributing to these competitive advantages, as well as a future economic outlook, are included in this report. Analyses of the insurance industry were performed using the PESTEL and Porter’s Five Forces methods to identify key trends that may influence change. Overall, this report explains how Northwestern Mutual has made strategic decisions to succeed within its industry.
