Abstract
The study examines the ongoing effects of staff training to integrate library development. The study takes a conceptual approach, thematically focusing on the impact of staff training on library development. The rationale of the study was to establish the relationship between the training of library staff and the development of libraries, leading to the effective and efficient provision of library and information services. Through a systematic literature review and thematic analysis of extant literature, the paper concludes that managers of libraries must pragmatically integrate staff training into their annual budgets: it recommends the establishment of training and development programmes for library staff as well as the adoption of the train the trainer concept, where staff who participated in training and development programmes are asked to train colleagues. In this way, staff training and development will improve in the libraries
