Accounting is the language of the business world. Individuals who understand accounting are in a position to evaluate business transactions, advise others on the economic consequences of different business choices and take leadership roles in government and industry.

Accounting is a technical field, requiring students to understand a wide range of accounting concepts and relationships. Yet, as leaders, accountants must be able to communicate to others how these concepts and relationships apply to management issues and create accounting systems that provide solutions.
