Abstract
The research here reported compares oxygen uptake per unit quantity of turkey spermatozoa during two hours in two artificial related media and with varying sperm concentrations. Certain factors possibly related to oxygen uptake, as motility and progressive death of sperm cells in well aerated suspensions, were studied to a limited extent.Factors not investigated, which nevertheless may have had a bearing upon the results obtained, were individual variation among toms, physiological age of the turkeys, time between collections, and temperature at time of collection and during the measurements.Time elapsed between collection and beginning of measurements, and pH, were factors varied only accidentally.
