Abstract

Greenhouse studies of the effects of N and P fertilizers on top and root growth were conducted with Nebraska 50 intermediate wheatgrass. The plants were grown in half-gallon cardboard food cartons lined with polyethylene bags. The cartons were 20.3 cm deep.Three levels of N and three of P in all combinations were used with each of two soils.Experiments were conducted to study the effects of commercial fertilizers, clipping intensity, and water supply on the development of tops and roots. The effects of stage of maturity at harvest and drying temperature on the viability of intermediate wheatgrass seed were studied.
