The Effect of Muscle Fatigue on the Gait Stability During Walking on Steel I-Beams

Mohamed R. S Amar, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

The purpose for this research is threefold. All involve examining the gait stability during walking on I-beams simulating the connection tasks by ironworkers. First, investigate the effect of muscle fatigue as a process of the major lower extremities muscles on gait stability. Second, investigate the effect of the I-beam protective coating in combination with muscle fatigue on gait stability. Finally, compare gait stability algorithms to see if they result in the same conclusion. (Abstract shortened by ProQuest.)
