Abstract

You'll Be Here Soon is a novel that examines several subjects and themes, including identity, women's roles, motherhood, marriage, constructed families, abandonment, love, and loss. Set in fictional Holly Springs, Ohio, the female protagonist must acknowledge who she is and how her history continues to shape her perceptions of the world. The novel also uses elements of magical realism and mystical properties to investigate the four key elements of storytelling and fiction: the journey, homecoming, love, and death.
