PROCEDURES FOLLOWED BY LOCAL SCHOOLS IN IMPLEMENTING THE 1963 CERTIFICATION LAW OF THE STATE OF NEBRASKA
Abstract
The Nebraska Legislature, in 1963, enacted a new teacher certification law, L.B. 740, which embodied several changes from the existing regulations. Not only were the requirements for initial certification changed, but also the rules for certification renewal or conversion.Under the provisions of the new legislation, the local boards of education are to act as judging bodies prepared to attest that a teacher has had successful teaching experience for the number of years required by the state regulation. A teacher with a college degree, upon receiving such an endorsement of successful teaching from his local board, may then be certified for a period of ten more years without further proof of professional growth.
