An Analysis of the Effects of the Product Warranty on Selected Companies in the General Aviation Industry

RICHARD ALLEN MOELLENBERNDT, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

Enlightened sellers have always sought to satisfy the highest hopes of their customers. But throughout his- tory, the individual buyer has learned from experience that his expectations were not going to be completely fulfilled with every purchase. Standards for products, services, promotional promises and the like have been determined largely by costs, profit aims, competitive position and the conscience of the seller. The degree of responsibility placed upon the seller regarding the quality of his goods has depended upon social and economic policy and the legal philosophy of the day. Historically, this responsibility has passed through a remarkable evolution of a curiously. cyclical character.
