Abstract

Good records are vital for medical research and for teaching. Courts, insurance companies, governmental agencies, and doctors demand facts from these records. Medical record librarians and hospital administrators acknowledge the shortage of adequately trained personnel, 1 and hospitals are calling for more medical record transcriptionists than schools or hospital training centers have been supplying.
