AN ANALYSIS OF THE PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF CURRICULUM EVALUATION PRESENT IN THE 1976-1977 SENIOR HIGH STUDY OF THE LINCOLN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

WILLIAM W KENAGY, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

Concepts of evaluation as applied to education involve many dimensions. The educational scene is strewn with models, schemes, and plans for evaluating the processes and products of education. Evaluation projects in education can be national in scope, e.g., studies such as James Coleman's Equality of Educational Opportunity, or Christopher Jencks' Inequality. Other evaluations, more limited in nature, are concerned with statewide educational accountability. Evaluations of a different type are carried on by school districts. These include a myriad of schemes for evaluating courses, teachers, instruction, and pupil progress.

Subject Area

Educational administration
