A comprehensive study of the theories of development administration and their approaches to decision making during program planning and implementation in developing countries
Abstract
Chapter 1 of this study was an introduction to the study including the subject of colonial administrative practices and their impact on today's administrative practices. The chapter further presented the statement of the problem and the importance of the study. Chapter 2 dealt with the literature review and addressed the centre-down and bottom-up development paradigan and concepts and approaches to development administration. Case studies from several developing countries were included as examples of centre-down and bottom-up theories either jointly or separately in implementing development programs. Chapter 3 dealt with the procedures of the study such as research design, sample population, and data collection and the data analysis process. Chapter 4 represented summaries of the findings of the study supported by frequency distributions and cross tabulations of the variables in the study. As a result of surveying the perceptions of native Africans as to the importance of various categories of the areas of management, it was possible to identify where further education of development administrators appeared to be desirable. Chapter 5 dealt with research findings, conclusions, recommendations based on the findings and the resulting data, as well as suggestions for further study.
