Abstract

My research involves the tribe Anoplognathini (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Rutelinae), a group endemic to the Neotropical and Australian realms. A generic level phylogenetic analysis of the world Anoplognathini (Rutelinae) is in progress. A preliminary analysis has been conducted using morphological and molecular characters. The analysis suggests that the Australian and Neotropical groups are paraphyletic. Adjustments will have to be made in the classification of this tribe to reflect the natural relationships.
