Abstract

The study explores the use of print and electronic resources among the postgraduate students in the teaching departments of university of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. The other objectives are to examine the awareness about print and electronic resources, to determine which resources are suitable for students, identify the satisfaction level and problems faced in using print and electronic resources and to investigate the suggestions for using print and electronic resources. Respondents were selected from the postgraduate students through simple random sampling method applying questionnaire method. Collected data was analyzed using SPSS software and MS Excel. The findings revealed that majority of the respondents using print resources. The study assessed that the satisfaction rates of using electronic resources are very low whereas satisfaction rate of print resources are high. Most of the students opined that print resources are suitable than electronic resources at the same time some cases electronic resources are suitable. Majority of the students faced non-availability and damage of print copies are the main problems in using print resources and access restrictions is the major problem in using electronic resources.
