Abstract

Choctaw writer Devon A. Mihesuah chronicles the lives of her Choctaw family spanning several generations. She traces the footsteps of their forced relocation from their homeland in Mississippi to their present day home in Southeastern Oklahoma. Her stories express the strength of a tribe whose identity and pride have survived the disruptions of colonialism. What lessons can we learn from the road of our ancestors?
