Abstract

A sample of 169 S1 lines from two Krug synthetics, KII (A) and KIII Syn-3, evaluated using three types of evaluation, provided the source of lines used in this study. The methods of evaluation were: line per se (1958-1959); in topcrosses with an unrelated tester (1958-1959); and in topcrosses with the related parental tester (1961-1962). From each of the three evaluation tests, the three highest and the three lowest lines were selected. An attempt was made to relate line characteristics with their yield prepotency as established in the performance trails.
