Abstract

A study was made of the relationship between early growth and butterfat production in Holstein, Jersey, and Guernsey cows. Average daily grains in height at withers and in chest girth at different ages were used as the measurements of early growth. Average butterfat production per lactation was used as the measure of average producing ability. Seventy-nine Holstein cows, thirty-three Jersey cows, and twenty-seven Guernsey cows were included in this study.
