Abstract

The purpose of this investigation was to develop a technique to evaluate developmental behaviors of the preschool child. A second part of the study includes results from the administration of the technique to a group of observers of a small sample of preschool children. This pilot study was initiated as an aid in determining the effectiveness of the evaluation technique.

The effectiveness of the technique was analyzed on the basis of the following criteria: (1) recognizes the individual differences, (2) gathers information on the child’s physical, mental, social and emotional development, (3) gives an indication of a child’s capacity and limitations, and (4) is practical for use by the nursery school teacher.
