Abstract

An investigation of some chemical properties of representative sandy soil profiles of northeastern Nebraska was carried out in order to obtain information pertaining to management practices. The soils used in this investigation were of the Thurman and Ortello series. The samples, consisting of horizon composites, were largely obtained in Pierce County as they were considered representative of the sandy soil area of northeastern Nebraska. The area counties of Holt, Antelope, Pierce, Madison and Station Counties. The purpose of this investigation was to study the following properties of sandy soils from northeastern Nebraska: mechanical analysis, total nitrogen content, total phosphorus content, organic matter content, soil reaction, and the cation exchange properties.
