Abstract
The principle objective of the research was to determine the maximum utilization of space for home storage and to eliminate unnecessary reaching, bending, and handling required to use stored items. As functional storage principles are often overlooked in the planning of kitchen storage, the home builder was the key person in this study. The objectives were: to determine builders’ awareness of functional kitchen storage principles, and: to determine if this awareness differed among home builders within Nebraska. The author concludes that there is a need to better acquaint home builders with the functional arrangement of space.
