Abstract
The intended goal of this research was to extend the synthesis of 2-benzal-4,4-dimethyl-1-tetralone and its corresponding oxide to include compounds which were substituted in the benzal nucleus and also to study the chemistry of 2-benzal-4,4-dimethyl-1-tetralone oxide. A further interest was to examine the spectra of any new compounds and to correlate them with structure.
