Abstract

Extension Circulation 1533 is about Mange and Lice that affect Hogs. Mange or scabies is caused by a tiny whitish mite that goes into the skin and lays eggs that produce more offspring. It causes itching, and the animal may want to rub against something very hard. The hair then begins to thin and the skin becomes wrinkly. Lice lay and glue their eggs to the hairs of the hogs and the eggs hatch in 12-20 days.
