Abstract
TDAmeritrade Brokerage Operations processes millions of transactions every day in support of clearing stock trades and settling client balances. In the financial field, transactions need to be 100% accurate but errors can occur. All transactions are stored in our back-office system as a debit and credit between accounts using general accounting principles. Controls, oversight reports and monitoring groups are in place to catch errors and anomalies that may occur. These anomalies could happen due to typographical errors, duplicate transactions processing, or calculation and rule errors but they could also be completely innocuous or new behavior. As issues and fixes happen, money is moved in and out of “house accounts” to monitor money movement for the company for each department or subject area.This project was proposed to assist Brokerage Operations in detecting these anomalies.
