Abstract

The 2020-2021 Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) Design Studio team developed a web application tool that automatically generates collision diagrams of roadways in Nebraska. This solution alleviates manual workload and allows NDOT to study crash patterns on more intersections than was previously possible due to its limited resources. The enhanced Nebraska Transportation Information Portal (NTIP) crash diagramming tool uses machine learning and computer vision techniques to create accurate and useful collision diagrams.
