Abstract

Se registra por primera vez el ácaro rojo de las palmas, Raoiella indica Hirst (Acari: Tenuipalpidae), en Guatemala. Este ácaro invasivo se encontró en los departamentos de Petén e Izabal infestando palma de coco (Cocos nucifera), palma de Navidad (Adonidia merrillii) y palmera robeleni (Phoenix roebelenii).

The red palm mite, Raoiella indica Hirst (Acari: Tenuipalpidae), is recorded for the first time in Guatemala. This invasive mite was found in the departments of Petén and Izabal infesting coconut palm (Cocos nucifera Linnaeus), Christmas palm (Adonidia merrillii (Becc.)) and pygmy date palm (Phoenix roebelenii O’Brien).
