The Kimmel Education and Research Center extends the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus into the heart of Southeast Nebraska where it supports economic development through extension education, research and collaboration. These innovative educational and research efforts create new economic opportunities and develop the entrepreneurial and leadership skills of individuals, organizations and communities.
Located on the picturesque grounds of historic Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard, this regional teaching and research facility operates in the spirit of partnerships that began in 1925 when the Kimmel family joined with the University of Nebraska to study the value of alternative crops to the state's economy. Today the Kimmel Education & Research Center represents a unique collaboration between the Richard P. and Laurine Kimmel Charitable Foundation, the University of Nebraska and The National Arbor Day Foundation.
The Kimmel Education and Research Center’s mission is to provide a total education experience by generating innovation through education, putting research into practice, leveraging resources through partnerships, and developing young leaders.
