Abstract
The paper tries to discuss the concept of open education resources, creative commons licensing and the initiatives taken by India with regards to the open education resources, it presents a variety of open educational resources in India as National Digital Library of India, SWAYAM, E GYANKOSH, SWAM PRABHA, NCERT, Consortium for Educational Communication,, NPTEL etc. The paper highlights the pros and challenges of the open educational resources and the role of library professionals in the changing scenario.
