Abstract
The emergence of an information society acknowledges the importance of technology as a tool for human advancement, and society is primarily driven by technology. The study employed a descriptive survey research approach. 173 librarians from university settings and public and state libraries participated in the study; samples were taken from each state in the South-west of Nigeria. The entire population was used as the sample size since the population was reasonable enough. A questionnaire was used to collect the data. This study discovered that, despite certain challenges. This study reveals that libraries actively participate in the information society by utilizing technology, storing digital material for later use, promoting resource sharing across user groups, and preserving society's past for future generations. Libraries are better positioned to significantly meet society's information demands due to the usage of digital technology in the current era for information storage and transmission. Therefore, libraries are anticipated to have extensive technology installations in order to benefit from the information society.
