Abstract
This dialogue is a feature of the Newsletter intended to promote that exchange of ideas for which the Association of Documentary Editing exists. Mr. Shaw was asked to focus his comments both on things done well and on things that might have been done differently-the latter request being an invitation to describe those alternatives to which an editor may, rightly, have said No. The review, with Mr. Shaw's name deleted, was sent to Mr. Taylor, who was asked to comment on the observations. Again, the intention is to foster instructive dialogue. Although the etiquette of some scholarly periodicals suggests that a reply to a review is evidence of ill grace, we stress here that Mr. Taylor's reply was invited. We are especially grateful to Messrs. Shaw and Taylor for graciously accomodating our deadlines amid their busy schedules
