Abstract
In India Maharashtra is the third largest state, known for its good outstanding educational quality at all levels in almost all the major disciplines of study. There are total 35 districts in Maharashtra state with best colleges and higher education institutions. The library and information sciences in India have been completed a hundred years and during this period there has been considerable development of library and information studies. This paper highlighted the current scenario of LIS education and research in Maharashtra. It is also studied the overview of different types of LIS courses offered in universities of Maharashtra. Study also focuses on library & information science research in M.Phil and Ph.D. from different universities of Maharashtra.
