Abstract

Three reasons librarians should publish are:

1. Faith in our co-workers and their integrity, intelligence, and desire to share

2. Hope for a better future in which scholars manage scholarly communications

3. Love of what we do and of what we’re doing it for.

What is most important now is to demonstrate the will to publish, to establish libraries as legitimate players, to support other libraries who publish, and to build an aggregator/distributor cooperative network outside the existing commercial marketplace.
