The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film offers the Bachelor of Arts in Performance and Production, the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design/Technology and Film and New Media, and the Master of Fine Arts in Acting and Design. Fourteen faculty members teach both the 130 undergraduate students and the 18 graduate students. The department is a member of the University/Resident Theatre Association and accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The Temple Building houses the 307-seat Alice Howell Theatre and the 161-seat Studio Theatre, adjoining the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. The department produces a 5-play mainstage season in the Howell and Studio theatres each year. A student-run stage series, Theatrix, usually produces five plays. In the summer, the Nebraska Repertory Theatre, which operates under an Equity contract, produces three plays. Students get the opportunity to work with professional actors, directors, and designers during both the academic year and the summer.
