Abstract

Solo en algunos sectores académicos se conoce la importancia arqueológica y cultural de la subregión colombiana del Urabá antioqueño en Colombia. Esta fue zona de paso obligada para los antiguos grupos humanos que cruzaban el Tapón del Darién en la región colombo panameña. La zona conecta el centro y sur de América desde tiempos de los cazadores recolectores, poblaciones agrarias prehispánicas y poblaciones actuales. Para ilustrar la presencia de sociedades complejas en la región y la relevancia que se dio a la mujer dentro de estas sociedades, se eligió una figura de cerámica femenina encontrada en el municipio de Necoclí, Antioquia. En el marco del 2º Congreso Internacional de Iconografía Precolombina se presenta el estudio de caso de una figura antropomorfa femenina asociada a posibles roles de poder. A continuación a manera de ensayo se explicará algunos elementos formales de la pieza y otros aspectos de su entorno.

Only in some academic sectors is the archaeological and cultural importance of the Colombian subregion of Urabá Antioquia in Colombia known. This was an obligatory passage area for the ancient human groups that crossed the Darién Gap in the Colombian Panamanian region. The area connects Central and South America since the times of hunter-gatherers, pre-Hispanic agrarian populations and current populations. To illustrate the presence of complex societies in the region and the relevance given to women within these societies, a female ceramic figure found in the municipality of Necoclí, Antioquia was chosen. Within the framework of the 2nd International Congress of Pre-Columbian Iconography, a case study of a female anthropomorphic figure associated with possible roles of power is presented. Below, as an essay, some formal elements of the piece and other aspects of its environment will be explained.
