Abstract

En el siguiente artículo se realizará un estudio comparativo de las representaciones pictóricas de algunos de los Templos Montaña principales de la zona andina y de Mesoamérica; para ver las similitudes y diferencias arquitectónicas simbólicas de cada uno de estos templos centrándonos en el concepto y la representación del Axis Mundi. Para llevar a cabo el análisis, se hará un estudio iconográfico e iconológico de la arquitectura de algunos templos amerindios en relación con los animales principales vinculados a dicha representación simbólica del Universo, como son el águila, el jaguar y la serpiente. Asimismo, se analiza la importancia de la arquitectura-escultórica para entender la imagen y la función que tienen estos Templos Montaña en su entorno sagrado y mítico.

In the following article a comparative study will be carried out of the pictorial representations of some of the main Mountain Temples of the Andean area and Mesoamerica; with the objective to see the architectural symbolic similarities and differences of each of these temples focusing on the concept and representation of the Axis Mundi. In order to carry out the analysis, an iconographic and iconological study will be made of the architecture of some Amerindian temples in relation to the main animals linked to this symbolic representation of the Universe, such as the eagle, the jaguar and the snake. Furthermore, it also analyses the importance of sculptural architecture in understanding the image and function of these Mountain Temples in their sacred and mythical environment.
