ACUTA, The Association for College and University Technology Advancement, was an international non-profit educational association serving colleges and universities. ACUTA represented over 1800 individuals at more than 500 institutions of higher education with members ranging from small schools and community colleges to the 50 largest U.S. institutions representing diverse Carnegie classifications throughout the United States, Canada and New Zealand. ACUTA also had Corporate Affiliate members, representing all categories of technology vendors who served the college/university market.
For 46 years—from 1970 to 2016—ACUTA promoted knowledge sharing and collaboration among higher education professionals responsible for telecommunication systems. While the central goal of the association was a critical element of the association for 46 years, the business model to operate the association for almost 30 years was no longer sustainable. For this reason, the Board of Directors felt it was in the best interest of the association to dissolve. On March 22, 2017, the Association for College & University Technology Advancement Board of Directors voted to dissolve the association effective March 23, 2017 at 5pm ET.
