Abstract

The last study on tractor power and cost of operation on Nebraska farms was published in 1939. Since then so many changes have been made in size of farms, farm machinery, and tractor design and efficiency that current information is needed to bring cost estimates up to date for farmers, county agents, research workers, and many agencies indirectly interested in agriculture. This study was to obtain information on cost and performance of the kinds and sizes of tractors in most general use in Nebraska. Of importance also were the number of hours of use per tractor and the kinds of work performed in the field and elsewhere.
