Abstract
Proposal
The following proposal is a design contract for the master planning, development and interior design services for the building on the corner 8th and P in the Haymarket District in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Haymarket District is an active, vibrant, historical area within the city of Lincoln and draws in people of all ages and cultures to this neighborhood. Local gift shops, restaurants, bars, and small businesses culminate this area. To attract more people to this district, I propose to add a boutique salon/spa, a boutique retail store, office space, and loft-style apartments.
The boutique salon/spa will target those of the younger generation to draw in a more diverse age group to the Haymarket. Being so close to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, college students may enjoy the full services of this salon/spa, such as getting their hair colored, facials, pedicures, and full body massages to name a few. This salon/spa will occupy 3600 square feet on the second floor of the building and will allow for a spacious salon/spa.
The boutique retail store will also target the younger generation from the University's students. This retail store will offer a unique experience unlike any other in the area. It will provide an urban, chic atmosphere that, combined with the salon/spa, should generate more revenue for not only these new businesses, but for the surrounding restaurants and bars, as well. The retail store will also occupy the same 3,600 square foot plan located on the first floor.
The office space will allow for two additional businesses to join the Haymarket/downtown area and will occupy 3,600 square feet on both the first and second floor.
The loft-style apartments will provide additional housing for the downtown area and will be located on the third floor.
