Abstract
The collection’s black and white photographs relate to Barbour's research in paleontology and geology, his work as director of the State Museum, his civic involvement in Lincoln, Nebraska, and his personal life. Many images feature fieldwork, fossil specimens, museum displays, and landscapes from Nebraska and surrounding states. Barbour also frequently photographed the University of Nebraska and Nebraskan communities with a special interest on natural resources and building materials. While researching windmills, he photographed a variety of windmill styles in use across the region. Items date from about 1889-1938. Not all photographs in the collection are digitized.
