Abstract
A series of rotation experiments under irrigation was established in 1912 of Tripp very fine sandy loam at Scotts Bluff Field Station in Nebraska. The plots after potato harvest were sampled in April 1951. The potato plots represented three crop rotation systems: continuous cropping of potatoes; 3-year rotation (potatoes, oats, or barley, sugar beets); and 6-year rotation (3 years of alfalfa, potatoes, oats or barley, sugar beets). No manure nor fertilizer was added to these plots for thirty-nine years of cropping.
The purpose of this investigation is to study the factor of water-stability of aggregates from potato plots associated with the cropping system.
