Abstract

Abstract in English:

In this essay I propose to do a study of the elements that continually push the Indians [indios] to revolt, a study that is based on twenty-six Indianist novels [novelas indianistas] that I have read, novels which are now considered among the best of this literary genre.

These twenty-six novels represent the following countries: Peru, 5; Bolivia, 5; Mexico, 9; Colombia, 1; Ecuador, 5; Guatemala, 1.

My plan is the following:

The first chapter I will dedicate to the land which has been an important factor in the development of the nations, particularly among the Indian [indio] races.

The second will cover the abuses of the whites and the mestizos, their imperfections and weaknesses.

The third will cover the ignorance of the Indians [indios], their poverty and difficulties.

The fourth will relate to some bad representatives of the Catholic Church.

The fifth will discuss the mestizo and other aspects of the problem of the Indian [indio] that still remain to be resolved.
