Abstract

A cross of a hard red winter wheat, Bison, and the soft red winter wheat Nebraska Sel. 551146 was made and the progenies through the F3 were studied for several characters, namely, yield and yield components, sedimentation values, protein content of the grain and mixing tolerance. F1, F2 and backcrosses to each parent were studied in a greenhouse soilbed whereas the F3 was planted in a field at the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station. Records were made on an individual plant basis through the F2 and on a progeny row basis for the F3. The parents were grown along with the progenies. Quality determinations were made in the Wheat Quality Laboratory.
