Abstract

Nebraska contains about 19 million acres of sandy land of textural classes ranging from coarse sand to fine sandy loam. Sandy soils are found in all sections of the state, about two to three million acres are under cultivation.

This thesis relates specifically to soil conservation practices for sandy blow-outs and deteriorated sandy pastures and meadows in the state of Nebraska.

In all cases poor range or pasture management practices must be corrected and good management practices established or little or nothing is gained in trying to stop enlargement of blow-out areas and deterioration on sandy pastures and meadows.

The results of this thesis indicate there are many soil conservation methods that can be used on sandy soil.
