Abstract
Four experiments were conducted at Lincoln, Nebraska, during a three year period, 1945-1947, to obtain information on the effects of several environmental factors in panicle production of bromegrass, Bromus inermis Leyss. Seedlings of bromegrass showed variations in vegetative growth when subjected to two different day lengths and two different temperatures continuously. Sections of growing points showed that the flower primordia of bromegrass is not laid down until after plants are subjected to a long day and that the period of growth under short natural days and cool temperatures must bring about conditions within the plant which are favorable for panicle production.
