Abstract

A greenhouse experiment was conducted utilizing P32 tagged superphosphate to measure the effect of nitrogen fertilization and fertilizer placement on the uptake of fertilizer phosphorus by several crops. Treatments consisted of applications of phosphate with and without nitrogen, banded and mixed with the soil at planting. Both legumes and non-legumes were grown on three phosphorus deficient soils ranging in reaction from slightly acid to alkaline. The soils used in this experiment were obtained in the summer of 1956 from cultivated fields in Eastern Nebraska.
