Abstract
This study is an analysis of the content relative to intergroup understandings presented in selected fifth grade social studies texts. It is the purpose of this study to (1) select the six text books most used as basic in the fifth grade social studies programs in selected Nebraska school; (2) analyze the text material as it develops intergroup understandings concerning the Indian and the Negro; and (3) record the opportunities each text provides for better understandings of these two groups.
