Abstract

Agricultural tractors are required to operate over a great range of soil conditions. Because of the difficulty in defining “standard” soft ground performance, tractors are presently tested only on a hard surface. If the soil value system established by Bekker can be used to describe a soft tractive surface, it might be desirable to test tractors over a range of soil conditions that would be representative of actual operating conditions.
