Abstract
The primary concern of this study was the consideration of the components which determine the changes in the number of farmers and the effects that these components have had upon the changes in the number of farmers in the twelve North Central States and Kentucky. The components considered were the age-specific rates of withdrawal, and the aggregate rates of withdrawal and entry. The study employed a form of cohort analysis using data obtained from the Agricultural Census for the 50-year period, 1910-1959.
