Abstract
It was the object of this investigation to determine the effect of testosterone upon the metabolism of ejaculated bovine spermatozoa, as measured by the O2 consumption, and to explore the possibility of extending the useful life of spermatozoa by means of testosterone treatments. Confirmatory evidence was found for the linearity of the spermatozoan concentration-O2 uptake curve. Significant differences were found between semen samples in their response to testosterone treatments. These differences could not be wholly explained upon the basis of the spermatozoan concentration.
